Have a stick burner trailer rig and have been smoking for a year now. But want to expand my cookers and have decided to get a pellet smoker. I want to stay wood but loading sticks every hour or 2 gets old on long smokes. So I hope to learn some more so I am happy with my first pellet smoker. Sometimes a few more $ up front is better in the long run.

Looking to buy my first one. Found this forum and want to do some reading before I buy. I have had Traeger recommended, I was looking at the Tex. I have also had the Camp chef smoker recommend. I have looked on the web at the Mak on the web. But the price hurts. So I am trying to decide. I see you are Mak for life. Would it be worth the cost to start with one. Or get something cheaper. Learn some more then upgrade?

I am sure .scooter like me. Purchase a different brand of pellet smoker and then got his MAK. I paid $1000 for our first one. Which we replaced with our first MAK #68. The only good part is using other brands of pellet grills allows us to realize why we love our MAK grills so much. In fact when we purchased our second MAK #186. I talked about getting a less expensive model and my wife Patty said to call Big Poppa and order another MAK because we know it works!

If your serious about pellet cooking don't waste your money, just buy a MAK and only cry once and never look back. I've had mine 4 years and have never had to repair a thing. I keep it clean, vacuum the pit after use, and it has never failed me.

I think you hit the nail on the head with why so many are happy with their MAK grills. Yes, they cost more, but there is a reason they do and I believe you truly get what you pay for in a MAK.
