Lowest temp mak/yoder jerky

Hey guys, so I'm was making some jerky and was thinking about smoking for 3 hrs or so at around and 160, but when I fire up my mak to the smoke setting the grill temp was 175, so jerky was a tad over done... I also have a yoder ys640, I was wondering on the mak if there's a way to get to 160ish or if maybe the yoder has a temp setting that low... I feel 175 is just a tad to high... Any suggestions welcome!

My Yoder will set 150 as it's lowest temp. Note that I haven't tried anything that low, not sure how accurate it would be at that setting.

I haven't got a mak 2 star yet but I can tell you my GMG Davy Crockett can hold those low temps with ease. That's what I make all my jerky with now. The only crappy part is that it doesn't hold that much.

On the 2 star I will probably end up getting the side smoker box attachment. If you have a 2 star, try using the side box as you can get pretty low temps. Anything more than 160 I have found just starts to cook the meat rather than smoke/dry it. Another option is to put an ice tray in there To keep temps down. It works depending on the grill but it can 'be a pain and take up a bunch of needed space.

The side smoker box for the MAK works great. It captures the smoke inside for a longer time. Which adds to the smoke flavor.

I never have checked how much jerky it would hold but it has a lot of shelfs and dont forget to use the orginal one in the base under the smoker
