Can the WiFi connection be re-established easily to continue the cook, or will the grill have to be shut down/reset to re-establish the connection?

You would just turn it back on at the pellet boss controller to re-connect, or continue the cook without the web app if you wanted.

Tent, once out of beta phase, the answer is yes. When the MAK is turned on it defaults with WiFi off. On the PelletBoss, select WiFi, change "OFF" to "ON" and away you go.

RobF does point out the one possible hitch in the ability to control your MAK remotely which is as long as the MAK server application is up and running, you'll be able to remotely control your MAK. If the server goes down you'll need to do it locally through the PelletBoss old style.

I see it as a trade off for simplicity really. The way MAK designed the way the PelletBoss WiFi connects to your home network then connects out through the internet to the MAK server is genius and puts WiFi control within reach of virtually 100% of MAK owners. It's so simplified. With other automatic pit controllers with WiFi I'm familiar with, the ability of the pit owner to connect his pit to the internet is 100% dependent on his/her knowledge of IP network addressing, DNS services and wireless router configurations. Or is dependent on having to pay a home network business to come to your house to set it up for you which could get pricey. I would venture to say the average MAK owner is not well versed in setting up a static IP cooker in the DHCP world we live in and I figure it would also prove to be a nightmare for MAK customer Service to support!
MAK has removed that networking mystery and presented a WiFi system most everyone can configure and use. No updating of your home network is required.

Any news on the wifi module? I am technical savy if you need any more testers. I have six butts on and having the wifi would be extremely handy!

I know we are moving to the second stage of testing. The first for me went well. I miss not using it. What I know and hear is the web part of it is being worked on so additional features can be implemented. When of the things that MAKe MAK great is they release a product when they feel it is ready.

Bob, my neighbor has #309 so he'll need to upgrade his PB and get the module. Approx how much for both? Was it the $299 you mentioned earlier in the thread or was that just for the module?

$299.00 is the MSRP for the MAK Grills Mobile Wi-Fi module and gives you free access to makgrillsmobile.com.

2 Star customers with #320 and below will need to upgrade their Pellet Boss to the 5 Button model.
The cost is 150.00 to trade in the old controller for a new one.

It's not available just yet, I am sure BPS will take pre order lists though.
We look to be on track for the end of the month.
Yes, we will link it to both sites when ready :)

Clear this up for me please. When I order one in the next few weeks, will I need an add-on or what?
