Memphis Hopper issues?

I know this is like a "Ford v/s Chevy" debate at times but I have to ask... because I am still trying to make up my mind between a Memphis Pro and Mak 2 star.

I haven't been able to tell from pic on line nor is there an easy way for me to see either of these grills in person. I am still 50/50 on either grill the wining vote will be: How hard/easy is it to remove pellets/jams from the Memphis?

Seems to me jams or issue with pellets are going to happen with any pellet grill... Looks like the pellet hopper on the Memphis (while it is sleek and cool looking and out of the way) would be challenging to remove a jam from or remove the pellets if needed.

Clearly Mak has an answer for this but any of you out there with a Memphis Pro had issues with the hopper/auger? How much of a pain is to work on? how hard is to remove the pellets if need be?

A lot of questions I know... any insight will be helpful

Thanks

The number on issue with any pellet hopper is operator error/deferred cleaning. They both do fine if you keep them clean

Like others have never had a pellet jam in either of the MAK Two Star Generals we own. To answer your question I can get the auger out of the MAK in two minutes. Both are fine grills, I looked at both when we purchased our second MAK. The features of each and how you will use it should be the decision maker.

I've never had a jam with my Elite. I can scoop out most of the pellets if I want to, and the few that are left burn up in the start up for my next cook.

My Memphis Pro has never had a jam in over 2 years. It is kept outside under the porch with the hoppers full 365. High recommend the Memphis, but I have never heard of any problems with the Mak's either.

My MAK sits covered when not in use and it's in the open. With that being said I have had two jams. One being a known very hard pellet and the other being a stick mixed in the pellets. It's no fault of the MAK but the MAK quick change pellet door made dumping the pellets and clearing the jam much faster than having to scoop them out by hand. I'm sure the Memphis is an awesome grill and you would be extremely happy with it but the pellet dump door on the MAK was my final deciding factor. I haven't looked back since buying my MAK and am very satisfied with it.
