Howdy from Wyoming, I have always been a camp cook and outdoor type person. About 6 months ago I bought a Lil Tex Trager and have been learning to use. So far everything has been great. I recently bought the bigger size from a frined whose wife doesn't like the meat (go figure). My new one has digital dial and a temp guage on the top of the lid. I am not sure which one to go by when cooking. It seemed to be cooking hot by the lid one compared to digital one. Any thoughts? i was cooking a ham and it turned out good
Thanks

Welcome! Ignore the lid (dome) thermo, that is the hottest part of the pit, right as the heat goes up the stack. Probably off by 50° or more.

Go by the internal one, and add a couple oven thermometers (the dial ones) to get a feel for left to right and front to back differences.

My Traeger runs hotter on the right side, so I put the bigger cuts of meat over there when I'm doing a load.

I use a digital and I never believe the one on the top of the smoker, the digital on the smoker does't tell you the meat temp.
