I bought my Traeger last year and I have had a blast with it. I previously had an MES 40" smoker, and was very happy with it, until I was convinced to try pellet smoking by my supervisor and then watching guys on BBQ Pitmasters have success with it.
I am 40 and married to a baker. We live in Vegas after our time in the Navy where we were both nuclear engineers on the USS Enterprise. I work graveyard in the Venetian as a facilities tech and she is a baker at Harrahs. If you have been to their buffer the last few years and tried a dessert, odds are you tried something she made.
My favorite thing to smoke is turkey. The first time I tried one, my Mom almost threw a fit that I would "grill" a turkey instead of roasting it in the oven like she always had. When we finished our meal, she looked and me and said I was now responsible for the Christmas turkey from now on. This year, Christmas dinner was at our house and we uped the ante and smoked a prime rib in our Traeger at the same time. After that meal I almost applied for a job with Traeger because I had so many people from our party and where I work wanting to buy one!
I look forward to learning from everyone out here. Monday morning is the start of my weekend, and I'm planning on trying something new today, but I'll save that for another forum!
