I' m so looking foward to unpacking my new Mak tomorrow. I've been hiding it from the fiance for 5 days now. How she does not see the big box in the garage is beyond me. View attachment 1738

Beautiful Kamado! Have fun assembling your new 2 Star tomorrow. Forty five minutes and you'll be pellet grilling!

Hi all, well the MAK is out of the bag and I'm still alive to talk about it. Did the initial seasoning and cooked a pizza. Didn't take any pictures because I used one of the pre made pizza dough/bread from the market. With some chopped garlic, pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese I had a tasty snack in 10 minutes.

Question for Mak 2 Star users, I baked the Pizza at 450 for 10 minutes and the final product was very crispy just shy of being burnt in a few areas. Flame zone covers were left on and the pizza was on the grate, no pizza stone used. I previously did the same cook on a Traeger LIL Texas Elite and FEC PG1000 and the pizza's turned out soft and needed an additional 2-3 minutes to get a little crispy. For all cooks I used Traeger hickory/oak pellets. I don't know how to explain it but does the MAK heat better or hotter when compared to cooking on other pellet grills using the same temperature, time and pellets? The weather was a nice 85 degree day when using the MAK. The weather was closer to 95 or 100 when using the Traeger and PG1000.

Any feedback would be interesting to hear.

MAK Momma uses an aluminum pizza pan with air holes in it at 450 but I have done them on the grate with the paper baking sheet also.
If you like softer crust set at 350.

I do pizza on the bottom rack. 425* for 14 min. A cool feature on the pellet boss is the elapsed timer. I would play with it a couple of times, and then you'll know exactly the time it takes to cook a perfect pizza (or other foods) on the MAK. Hope this helps. Good luck. BTW that is a gorgeous Kamado.

I do all kinds of pizzas on the MAK. Usually i used a aluminum pizza pan, but sometimes I will cook tombstone pizzas right on the cardboard ring they sit on! I do these on busy nights occasionally. You would be amazed how good a $2.99 pizza taste when you cook it on the MAK! Enjoy your new MAK grill.
