New Years thoughts and forum decorum

First off seriously I wish everyone a happy new year...actually each day I hope that everyone has great times....

I started this forum because I loved pellet smoking. I started it also because issues with the other pellet forum...Both have their places...I believe that life is about choices and as long as you are pellet smoking that things are good no matter where you hang out.

I wanted it to be cook centric and friendly. I wanted a place where people could come and learn and grow and expand their cooking abilities. There are over 2,200 posted recipes here. I wanted a place where newbies would soon become experts to guide the other newbies. I started it to help support MAK and Memphis and ALL the other pellet smokers.

Here are the rules:
First off this is sponsored by Big Poppa Smokers.com, so please no dealers or spamming. Secondly these forums can get kinda nasty....the second and only rule is to play nice. That’s right no spam and play nice. This forum exists to share ideas, techniques, and creations.

Simple.

The recurring ding on this forum is that it is MAK Fanboys. There are a ton of happy MAK owners that found a home here. THey did because they enjoy the product and support. The owner of MAK is here 7 days a week answering questions, polling for future innovations and sharing his love of the pellet smoking. If they weren't so good at making a product in America, servicing it and creating new improvements that are engineered to be retrofittable maybe there wouldnt be the buzz here.

I would ask all to have the perspective that this costs you nothing and hopefully you can get something out of it on a regular basis. There is no place for the venom that reared its ugly head on the Traeger post. If you dont like a thread....move on. It is an internet forum....there will always be bias...thats what the internet is .

To the regulars make an attempt in the New Year that when someone asks about a GMG (an imported line that I like VERY much) , Traeger, or any other pellet grill that we tell them what we know about the grill they are asking about and not tell them to just get a MAK. This will help the perception

In the end I am a dealer for MAK and Memphis but I want a home for all pelletsmokers
There are Yoder owners (tatonka for example and her trophy husband Marty) that are great members and are happy to share the love of their Yoder. To repeat...the best guarantee of a happy new year is to be pellet smoking!!

Thanks for saying this.

I came here originally over a year ago and left because of what I felt was a fairly strong underlying anti-Traeger sentiment. It seemed that the answer to every problem was, like you mention "get a MAK".

I came looking for exactly what you say you want this place to be and I hope to, in whatever small way I can, help it be that.

I too appreciate what BP posted. The LAST thing we want is to alienate anyone. It's the people that make this forum great, not what brand cooker we have.

I wondered why that thread got deleted. Fortunately I didn't see the "venom". At any rate, like everyone else, I have to agree with BP on the "get a MAK" comment. One thing nice about the "other forum" is their testing of all brands that would submit a grill for testing (I am not saying we need that here).

unlike that place I do not think that it is appropriate for me to test grills that I am a dealer for...
