One more question from the new pellet cooker

I have a traeger 075 that I purchased a couple months ago. While out today I went to a bbq shop and saw a couple accessories I had to have. The obvious one was the front shelf, man I've finally got somewhere to stack my crap up. The other one they called smoking shelves. It is two shelves that run left to right the width of the grill, and close to 1/2 the distance from back to front. The lady at the store swears that if I put chicken parts, ribs, whatever on these shelves that because of the convection heating that they will finish the same time as the meat on the lower grid. It makes sense, but we are having a family bbq on Sunday and I'm cooking chicken pieces for 15. Will it work as advertised, or have you had different results? Your help is appreciated and this forum rocks.

Thank you

I believe a second shelf is a must have accessory !
What you will find out is you will start using the upper shelf more than the bottom just because the food up top cooks more evenly.

Ditto Chili's second shelf recommendation. Do the biscuit test and you'll know where your hot spots are. (distribute a roll of cheap biscuits on both shelves, determine temp differences by where they get done first and how evenly)

Just purchased a half rack for my one star...i now have a full top shelf. Gonna do a big cook for my daughter's graduation and needed the extra space. Cant wait!!!!
