Options question

I know some people have Blackstone griddles. A lot of people have the griddle that MAK makes. This griddle looks a little small in my opinion. With the better heat of the new FZ. Any opinions on a full flamezone griddle If MAK made one? Does that sound like a good idea or an inconvenience or just buy a Blackstone?

Any input from MAK users would be appreciated..

Really a personal decision as to what’ll work best for you. I’ve been “griddle cookin’ for about 5 years now. Started with Blackstone’s and now have a large 6 burner Camp Chef. Absolutely love the CS griddles. Zero desire to buy the MAK griddle as it would be way to small for for me.

So if they hypothetically made a griddle that was large enough to cover the whole flamezone; instead of the smaller one they have now. It would still be too small??
Thanks

Hey, maybe a full sized griddle is an option that MAK should seriously look into!

As far as what's available now... I guess it would depend on your preferred style of cooking, what kind of food and how much you plan to cook at one time. We have a MAK griddle and, although it's a bit small compared to the dedicated Camp Chef or Blackstone griddles, but it suits our needs just fine and we absolutely love it.

Now... Having said that, keep in mind that we tend to use our MAK Griddle mainly for combo cooks, and it's plenty big enough for stuff like this:

Or this (an old pic from our old 1 Star, but you still get the idea):

Also there are couple of things you can't really do with a regular griddle (as far as I know) that you can do with a MAK griddle are sauces, or shallow frying (again, pics from our older 1 Star, but the new MAK Griddles still work the same):

Hot Dog & Chili (with buns warming up top).

I have often toyed with the idea of getting a second griddle (which is an option is you need more room), but have never really needed it so far.

Cliff

P.S. I'll be making a post later today showing the griddle in action on the new 2019 MAK 2 Star.

Thanks for the pics. Hot dogs & chili look good. I was just thinking for some larger cooks maybe a full size griddle would be a good idea.
MAK can send me a new 2* & updated griddle for testing & R@D ideas!! LOL!!

Thanks Cliff! Looking forward to the review!!

No problem. One thing I forgot to mention, although I've mentioned it in the past :p, is I think the MAK Griddle is the unsung hero of MAK Grills! No, it's not huge compared to a full-sized griddle, but dang does it increase the versatility of what you can do!

I also meant to post this pic above as well.

Here's some shallow frying going on (about 1/4" oil - keep the heat at 350° or below).

As another fine example, NorCal Smoker recently fried up some catfish cakes in his MAK griddle. And dang do they look amazing!
