I went out yesterday to start my smoke on a 2-3 month old Mak 1 Star and the boss failed to fire up. I double checked power at the outlet as well as verifying the PCB board was getting power (green light on back). The LCD would not turn on nor would the fan turn on. I called MAK and spoke with Matt. Super nice and professional guy. They have never had this happen before (my luck) but they are sending me out a new and improved unit for replacement. Curious what could have caused it with a cover on the entire time. Anyone know what the new hardware and software improvements are?

It has nothing to do with you the cover or the weather, most likely just a power supply failure. We won't know until your board comes back to us and we inspect it.
The new boards just have a different thermocouple circuit (temperature reading) that is more stable in poor grounding scenarios, you wont notice any difference in the operation of the grill.
Sorry that you had an issue sometimes electronics can fail, we will get you back up and running in no time.

No worries Mak Daddy. Matt was very helpful and I am looking forward to smoking soon. Buying American was the best decision I could have made. You have awesome customer service.
