Problem with probe readings on new 1 Star?

Got a new 1 Star Mak for Christmas...concerned the temp reported for the probe is not right. First, after about an hour smoking, I am getting temp readings on all 3 probes at about 130 degrees- though only one probe is plugged in. Smoking a pork shoulder now, my trusty meat thermometer is showing about 135 degrees, probe 1 is at 175, probe 2 and 3 (with nothing plugged in) showing 130. Is it normal to see temps reported on the unused probe jacks?

I did not see this the first hour or so....powered off and back on, same behavior. Moved jacks and the higher reading moves with the probe change.

I noticed this on my first use and then tested the probe vs my meat thermometer in container of hot water. They agreed at that point. Seems the probe and the temp readings go awry once the grill is going for a bit.

Anyone experience this?

First, Welcome to the forum! Be sure to stick around.

This issue could be something as simple as a bad probe, but MAK Daddy and or Big Poppa will be along to handle this one! If there's no reply by Monday morning, then give BPS (if they were your dealer) or MAK a call. They will take care of you.

Meanwhile use your meat thermometer to double check the temps, enjoy your meal and don't fret over this! You can rest assured that this will be taken care of.

No, it is not normal for the controller to read a probe temp without being plugged in. Most likely cause is water in the probe jacks on the Pellet Boss controller. Try taking a can of computer air and blowing them out, if that fails contact us for service help.
