Question about pellet swap out

Folks,
I was reading Sparky's post about "what pellets to use".
I have been Q'ing for a short time, about 8 months.
I am running a Green Mountain Grill Jim Bowie grill.
My question - How do you change out pellets in some sort of orderly fashion?
I wish my pellet hopper had a trap door at the bottom.
This would enable a person to place a bucket underneath, open the trap door, drain all the pellets and replace with the desired pellets.
I would love some feedback on this as it seems like a very tedious task to get all the pellets out..............................

I'm not sure about the GMG, but with my one star I use a red solo cup to scoop them out, then let the warm up period take care of whatever was in the hopper tunnel.

I have a small hand carry shop vac I use to suck the ashes out. I'm sure that would be quick and easy to suck out the pellets too. Just don't forget to clean the ash out of the vac first.

Log on to Big Poppas Smokers and order you a Mak 2 Star. They have that little trap door you want!

My kids have these small lil drinking cups that are plastic, I usually find one of those and use it to scoop out the pellets, it's pretty easy and usually only leaves what's in the auger.

I use a square Tupperware that is designed for packing a sandwich in a lunchbox. The size and flat size is perfect for the hopper sides and as what was previously stated about the small amount of left over is used up during the initial start up.
