Rookie here!

Although I have owned a Traeger smoker for about 5 years now, after stumbling onto this web site, I feel like a true rookie.
It appears, from what little I have read here, that Traeger pellets do not come highly recommended (although if I was on the Traeger web site I guess everyone else's pellets would be downplayed.)
My first Traeger grill ($1,300) (garaged over the winter months) had to be replaced due to severe rusting after short period of time. This left me with a "foul-taste" as this was not a cheap smoker. In addition, the only reason the smoker was replaced was due to a sarcastic e-mail from the company's owner that I was copied on by mistake. Out of embarrassment, he reluctantly replaced the smoker.
Friends and neighbors always question me on the various types of pellets I use, hickory, alder, etc. My usual answer is that the pellets while supplying a nice smoke ring, do not really impart a distinct flavor. After reading pellet stories here, I guess it is not my imagination.
Since I did not know other pellet smoker owners there was no one to compare notes with. This will now change since finding this site.
Any comments/recommendations on the above would be welcomed!!
Thanks,
Tony C

Hey Tony, welcome to the forum! Treager started this whole pellet thing, a lot of us started on Traegers. I cooked a lot of great food on my Traeger...Newer makes, MAK, Memphis, etc, have more features, better controllers, and higher build quality. (And MAK & Memphis are made in the USA)
