Ive decided im going to buy a slicer. Dont want to spend more than $200. Any recommendations? My research has me leaning toward a chefs choice.

I have the Chef's Choice 610 with the deli 'ham' blade. (the non-serrated one) Picked it up for around 125 and change a couple years ago. It works great for light use.

I bought a Chef's Choice Model 632 a while back. I like it a lot. Easy to clean up, and does a wonderful job of slicing thick or thin.

Hey Rick, take a look at e-bay. Do a search for "10" meat slicer". I won a bid for a 10" 240w 1/3hp M.T.N. slicer for $150.00. I will say a bit large and heavy but cuts like a pro.

I bought the 610 from Kohl's. I used Kohl's cash and a 30% of coupon. I didn't spend more than $80 or so. It works fine for lunch meat. That's all I've tried so far. I will prob get a larger 10" or 12" if I get back into slicing a lot of my own meat. I also bought the non serrated blade.

Did you have to buy the other blade online or did kohls have it?

Yes, check out ebay/craigslist/etc for a used Hobart/Berkel/Globe/Fleetwood. We picked up a Fleetwood 312E for a couple hundred, but rarely used it... so I sold it several years later for that.

They are out there, and the commercial units really blow away the little ones. a 25 to 30 year old 1/2 HP Hobart should outslice a new Chefs choice all day long.

They are heavier, but well worth it, IMHO. I have smoked the little motor on a Deni, and A Waring Pro over the years. Never threw enough at the Fleetwood to even put a dent in it's capabilities.
