Soda Pop Chicken for the first time

Just started smoking with a soda pop in the cavity (butt) instead of a beer. With a light store bought rub. Don't know what to expect any thoughts or suggestions?

No clue what to expect either. Which soda did you use?
I've marinated tritip in a Dr Pepper marinade once. Came out pretty good.

I use gingerale for my beer can chicken lots... It works well, I think it changes the flavor a bit but you must put something in the neck to get the effect.
