Reservations made. Looks like the package has the rooms half off which includes the waiving of the resort fees. The place looks beautiful and is a steal at $129/night for teams/vendors/judges!
There is a second package that includes tickets to the event. I didn't ask how much that was.

Here ya go Tom, from Wikipedia. While not the closest, John Wayne (SNA) in Orange County reportedly has the cheapest fares according to HoDeDo who is flying in with his family for the KOS event.

La Quinta is a city in California.

La Quinta is a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, about 30 minutes southeast of Palm Springs. La Quinta is one of the nation's leading golf destinations, having 28 golf courses within the city limits. Tourism is centered primarily on golf, hiking in the surrounding mountains, relaxing at the historic La Quinta Resort, and shopping and dining in the Village.

Palm Springs International Airport (IATA: PSP), [1]. Located in the nearby city of Palm Springs. Daily flight connections with most major cities throughout the United States and Canada are available by most major US and Canadian airlines. Some airlines serving Palm Springs Airport are seasonal and operate only during the busier winter season. One-way taxis from Palm Springs Airport to the La Quinta Resort and the La Quinta Village take 30 minutes and cost about $50. SunLine bus transit's Line 24 stops at Tahquitz Canyon Way and Civic Drive in front of City Hall (across the street from the airport) roughly every 30 minutes from 7am to 9pm, which connects to Line 111 going to La Quinta[2].

El Centro/Imperial County Airport (IATA: IPL), is the second closest commercial airport to La Quinta with regularly scheduled passenger flights. It is located about 70 miles south of La Quinta and has two daily flights on United Airlines[3]. Imperial County's small airport has free parking and a motel on-site, but there are no public transportation connections to La Quinta.

LA/Ontario International Airport (IATA: ONT) [4] in Ontario, about 70 miles to the west of Palm Springs, is also served by most major airlines and is the third closest commercial airport to La Quinta. There is no public transportation to La Quinta from Ontario Airport.

Bermuda Dunes Airport [5] is just a few miles from La Quinta and is one of two nearby general aviation airports. This airport is accessed by private aircraft. Private jet charter services are provided at this airport by Desert Jet [6].

Definitely going to be one for the record books! Lots of good sessions, perspectives, etc. Will be a very interactive environment, that has not really been experienced before in a contest such as this. We're excited to be there, and to be lucky enough to talk about BBQ and Smoke on Wheels!

We'll have our birthday girls with us, and they are just as excited as we are. It's going to be AWESOME!

Wish I didn't already spend my vacation budget. Hopefully if all goes well this will be an annual event.

ONT would be closer than John Wayne if you wanted to fly Southwest
PSP is close but not as many airlines and generally (not always) more $$

Got my ticket, 3 EYZ will be using some of our equipment
