Traeger Lil Tex temp control

I bought a Traeger lil Tex in August and have had a lot of problems. The factory wiring was wrong causing the hot rod to burn continually and trip the GFI. To Traegers credit the sent me a new hot rod and a new digital controller. However, I have not been able to maintain a near consistent temp. I set a new termp thermometer inside the smoker after testing it in boiling water. The I smoked some ribs set at 220 and compared the Treager temp display to the inside temp. I found consistent difference of 70 to 80 degrees over the Traeger display. P setting at 2 Traeger is testing a burner?? and will send it for me to install, Has anyone else had this type of problem? I am disappointed with my Traeger and offered to return it and buy a Texan and pay the difference. No deal. So I am manually watching and adjusting the temp control to keep it near 225 -250. Maybe I got a lemon

Ed, I wish I had the answers you are looking for. I have a Traeger 075 that had the digital temp installed before purchasing. I seen several others of freinds that have not had the trouble you have. Good luck!

I have a Lil' Tex Elite and notice the same thing with the digital Temp sensor big swings up and down. I don't think it's to accurate and don't pay much attention to it. Get a lid thermometer! One came on the Elite model and it seams to be right on if set the temp at 225 for ribs it hold right there between 200 and 250 almost always right there at 225.

Assuming nothing else is wrong, firebricks around the firebox will get those temp swings down into the 10-15 degree range.

I have a Jr with a Treager digital that I installed right out of the gate. I can tell you that the digital reads around 30 degrees less than what the temp is on the grate. I do not have firebricks and have 20+ variations in temp swing.
I am a month or two away from pulling the trigger on a Mak 1.
