Been gone for a while with work and I need to cook something this weekend. Maybe get some extra cash from BP. Wife went to costco yesterday and picked me up some tri tips. Been seeing a few more of them being cooked on here and they are looking good. Dad is coming over and I need some help!!!

How long?
Internal Temp?

Was thinking of trying them a couple different ways. One with just some rub maybe BP Money and happy ending?? should I add a little LLSGP?

and another one Marinated.

My timming has been horable lately and could use some help. And if someone has a recipe that I should try please send them. Don't plan on cooking them all up tomorrow so I will another to one to cook later.

THanks in advance.

Most costco tri tips are trimmed dont worry about it...here is the deal....

1. No matter what you AFTER your rest (see I got the rest for 10 minutes in) cut or carve against the grain.....

2. Tri tip is a little tougher than a fine steak so as a rule cook it to at least 5 degrees more than you would a new york or filet....

3.You can season with what ever you want....salt and pepper...add garlic powder.....blah blah or just use your favorite beef rub.

4. I like to smoke to ending internal meat temp at 250....

5. You can also sear first or reverse sear (my preference between the two techniques) so lets lay you are going to take it to 140 ending internal temp then pull it at 130 and jack the cooker up and when it is at the hot temp sear for a couple a minutes a side.

Give it a good coating of coarse sea salt, onion powder, and black pepper.

Then smoke at 260F until you reach a IT temp of 130F. After you reach 130F remove it, crank up your grill to high temp and give it a finish sear for a few minutes each side. Then pull it off and let it rest for 15 minutes. Carve across the grain and serve ;)
