Tri Tip ?

Hello,
Brand new to this site, and have mostly done baby backs. I'm looking to smoke some tri tip, and looking for advice. I plan on trimming the fat and rubbing down with canola oil and my dry rub. Refigerate over night, smoking for 4-5 hours @ 165 with a Treager, cook at 375 til done.

Should I inject anything into the meat? I usually use hickory, but would mesquite be better for beef?

Any recommendations are welcome as I have only cooked tri tip on the grill without anything special.

Just did one tonight...Its in the contest if youd like to look...I like to marinade for a bit then rub before I throw it on.... Personally Id cook it a little higher.. I dont think they come out that great at low and slow...I cook mine at 250-275 until an IT of about 120 then pull it and sear on hight heat for about 3-4 min a side....Comes out excellent...Good luck...
