Im in a deep retro country vibe....Hank Williams, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell and Vince Gills Bakersfield...IN the fall it might be prog rock and the new dream theater.
Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Dierks Bentley, Kacey Musgraves to name the most played. Retro country is Hank Jr, Dwight Yokam, John Anderson, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard top that list.
I'll listen to most anything I'm in the mood for. Lately it's been big band stuff from the 40's, Freddy King, Rush, Pink Floyd and the David Gilmour solo stuff. Mostly it's stuff I enjoy playing on my own instruments. The hard part for me this year is what am I going to do with some of my bonus, I'm down to three choices.
1. A Mak 2 star (I already have a Yoder that I love)
2. A beautifully restored Hammond B3 that I've been drooling over
3. A new Music Man Reflex HSH with trem and piezo
Flypig, when I saw your screen name I immediately thought of the cover of Animals.
Tough call with the bonus - I don't think you could go wrong with any of those choices. I'm tempted to say the guitar, but if you're like me you already have too many of those. The Hammond is cool, but if you're not going to pick up or already have a Leslie rotary speaker it may not be as fulfilling - then again it is beautifully restored and those are not easy to come by. You can't go wrong with the MAK. Glad I could be of some help
I hear you, BP - you make a fine instrument. If you made a Game Changer with the same pickups as my new #2 (Replaced by my new #1 - but that's a different story) I would have grabbed one in a second - for now I have to use my mini toggle and push pull tone knob
The Hammond has a choice of 2 Leslies that I can audition and choose from. But I already have a Hammond with a built-in Leslie and a Piano. I have plenty of guitars, but when I played the MM I almost had a spontaneous mess in my pants. Man that thing is what I've been wanting in tone and versatility. I still need to go audition it with my amp, but I'm not expecting any badness with the VOX Head. I did have bad luck with my Gretsch, it sounded heavenly in the store and my amp just hates it. Sounds thin and wimpy. Now it's relegated to family room couch plinking until I change pickups. I won't allow myself to make that mistake again.
The wife would be a little put out if I got the B3, (footprint) so it was sort of at the bottom of the list.
I'm kind of thinking one way or another BP is gonna get some more of my money!
I'm not the head cook so, I listen to whatever Andy is playing. When it is cleanup time- it is my turn, which is a variety of the softer- hard rock (if that makes sense lol). Evanescence is a favorite.

My wife has been the "smoker" this summer. I have been busy doing other things that require silence. When I take a break lately, I haven't been able to get enough of the new Dream Theater single. Can't wait for their upcoming releases this fall. I'm betting that JP and the boys probably outdid themselves.
Yea, I want a discount link and a Custom Shop guitar...
BP, just pulling your chain. I've been lurking on the MM site a bit and was cracking up over the Custom shop BS you have to deal with. I treat guitars like my motorcycles, it's a great platform, but it will need farkles and updates to make it right for you.
farkle = accessory.
The word is generally accepted to mean a combination of "function" and "sparkle", hence, farkle. Used a lot in motorcycle circles.
Hey, BP - I have to ask a few questions and then I promise I'll get back to the regularly scheduled forum. Any chance you have one of Alex's amps? Just curious, as I know no one that actually owns one.
Also, you may or may not know my tech - Paul Unkert. He used to be at Kramer and made a few of EVH's guitars. I have a handbuilt guitar by Paul and he takes care of my others. Always cool to find out if we have mutual acquaintances.
...and seriosuly, any chance I can get you to hang out with us for the jamfest we're having at my house in NJ? Invite open to other forum members as well - although you'll have to put up with my novice cooking.
