What I Love about Cold Weather

With the daylight hours growing shorter, cold weather approaching and Thanksgiving just around the corner I've been doing a lot of reflecting.

This might sound strange, but I'm actually looking forward to cold weather. It's when I really enjoy my stick burners. Let me paint a picture for you in your mind:

It's a cold, dark winter evening with little or no breeze and a clear sky. I wrap up warmly to go sit in back yard and tend to the smoker. The stars shine brightly as the snow on the ground reflects the night's light. Occasionally I hear the fire crackle or the slight rustling of leaves from a breeze or some small creature out searching for some seeds or an acorn. Sitting in the quiet stillness, the cold nips at my exposed skin reminding me that I'm alive. I sit and soak in the smell of the lazy wood smoke as it just hangs in the cold air wafting slowly away. It's magical.

What do you enjoy about cold weather?

I guess what I enjoy most about the cold weather is that it brings us the almost 200" of snow per year. Glad I bought a remote for my pellet boss

That I don't need a can koozie to keep my beer cold. Other than that..nothing at all. Give me 75 degrees year round!

Cold weather/fall is my favorite... The salmon run has come and gone, canning and harvest time is coming to a close and all the orchards picking the last of their apples.
Stealhead fishing is in full swing now, the whitetails are in rut and my Hoyte bow is shooting like a laser.
Time to move the Traeger to the garage and wheel it out when I'm cooking
We got snow last night and it is still on the ground... Hello winter
