Which one should I buy?

I've narrowed it down to the MAK 1 star, the Memphis Advantage, and the IPT-500. I'm open to whatever guidance anyone has to offer! It's a gift for the boyfriend. We live in the Hudson Valley in NY (rough winters and, lately, lots of rain!). We have some experience with smoking on our regular grill.

give us a call and we can guie you through the two American made ones that we sell....we dont sell the IPT and are not fans of it. THe MAK is a much better smoker and the memphis is probably a little better searing grill

It will ultimately depend on his style of cooking. One of the main reasons I went with the MAK 1 Star is it will provide more options. The up and coming FlameZone drip Pan is an exciting feature I definitely wanted! Just my 2¢ .

Either way Big Poppa Smokers will take care of you like you're their favorite customer!

I have to say, after reading the posts on here over the last couple of days, I decided to call Big Poppa already! Jessie was incredibly helpful and I think I made a decision with her help. I live in CT but work in East Fishkill. I have the 2 star but have not got thru a winter yet. I am a huge fan of the MAK products and do not think you can go wrong with a 1-star.

Welcome to the forum! You can't go wrong with the MAK or Memphis, don't know anything about IPT. The 1Star is an awesome cooking machine!

I just got my new 1 star in yesterday never have cooked with pellets. Tonight I'm cooking chicken on it and I got to tell ya I'm overly impressed by the smoke it puts out. Guarantee my neighbors 3 house down can smell the smoke. I just hope they don't come and see what it is not enough chicken for everybody !

What is it about the one star that creates more smoke than the two star? They have the same guts don't they?

My Memphis smokes like a champ in ALL of our rough southern California weather--from our winters that drop waaay down into the fifties to our summers which climb all the way up to the eighties.
