I am looking to purchase a pellet smoker, and could use some suggestions. I will cook for a max of six people. This is for home use. Thanks, Russ.

What kind of cooking do you want to do? How much do you want to spend? What features are important to you? Please give us some more input to help narrow down the choices...there are lots of good pellet smokers available...check out BigPoppaSmokers.com for a rundown on the best of the USA made cookers and get some ideas. Oh, and welcome to the forum!

I found a site called pelletheads.com that seems to have done some significant testing of different pellet grills. Tests look to be pretty comprehensive and done fairly.

Welcome aboard, tell us more about what you are looking for in a cooker. IMO the best feedback on a cookers performance is from the users that live with them and really put them through their paces.

Russ, I was in the same position a few months ago. Couldn't decide what was right for me, MAK or Memphis. Both are great, both have great support as I am sure you can see on this site. Call Jessie at BPS! She will help you decide. When you decide, order from BPS and there will be NO issues. Jessie is great!

Welcome Russ! Ditto to NorCal Smoker's response. I own a Memphis Advantage and love it but also have other friends who are in love with their MAKs. Like I've said before, you can't go wrong with either! I've spoken with Jessie at BPS many times. She's very friendly/knowledgeable and will help you with this hard decision!

Welcome from North Carolina. I bought my MAK 2 Star from Big Poppa. My cousin just ordered his MAK 2 Star after sampling the food I cooked for him and his family. There are lots of good choices for quality-American-made grills. Big Poppa has you covered. Don't just read the "tests" from the other web site. Check out the cooks that have been done for the contests here. This will give you some "real world" test results: the good looking, good tasting food! If you have questions about specific grills, ask away.

I did a lot of reading on the pellethead site before I knew this site even existed. There is a lot of useful info regarding the different options that all the other pellet grills have, that is what actually made me choose the 2 star. But like everything you need to take it with a grain a salt since 2 people can get completely different results off the same cooker... no matter what it is. (Look at what Jeanie makes when she goes camping...makes me hungry just thinking about it)
I chose my 2 star for the build quality, rave reviews on how the company treats its customers, made in america is always nice, and all the other features that it has : I love the pellet boss and I use the cold smoke/warming box all the time.
