Who's pelllets do you use and why?

I have used Bear Mountain and BBr's Delight, both are good but I really like the oak based BBQr's Delight the best even though I can get Bear Mountain for almost half the price at Cash and Carry here in Washington. I've also tried Traeger pellets when I had a Lil' Tex elite and they were OK but after finding out they used flavor oils I decided to stay away.

I have tried Traeger, Bear Mountain, Green Mountain, and Little Devil. Very recently I started seeing Gourmet BBQ pellets by Pacific Pellet in a couple shops around the Portland area. These are made in Oregon like a lot of these brands, but I must say these are my clear favorite thus far. Now because Alder grows like a weed around here they are Alder based, but there appears to be a high concentration of flavor wood in them. I am not a competitive BBQ guy but I highly recommend these if you see them around the NW. Not to mention I am getting them right now for $6.95 a 20 lb bag for most flavored and $8.95 a bag for mesquite and hickory. I really want to try the BBQ Delight but it is tough to pay over double what I am paying for pellets! Maybe at some point....

I have only used BBQers delight. I got a sack of the MAK branded pellets but haven't tried them yet. I am intrigued by the 100% hickory pellets which were mentioned. Have been pleased with the BD pellets. Low ash - I've had some marathon cooks and not needed to empty the ash, but the MAK4star can hold a LOT of ash. Anyway, so far I've used Oak, Hickory, Charcoal (thought was high BTU, but maybe its not), and Cherry. Pleased with all. Occasionally supplement with flavorwood pellets, or mix them up. I am actually at the point where I need to order more pellets, and from where I live, I couldn't say where my nearest pellet dealer is. I can tell you it's at least an hour drive each way if not more. I get 8-12mpg so I'm going with the free shipping every time! Thanks for the free shipping BPS!

To start to obtain anything to do with smoking outside of the basics is hard to do where I live.

I tried 1 bag of cooking pellets last summer and I wanted to try more. They have a sale on now so with friends we ordered a pallet. 40/40lb bags for 20.00 add shipping and you are up to 30.00
Pellets in my area are usually a buck a pound so still getting a deal.
I will be doing the BP free shipping next time for sure

I have used most of the brands previously mentioned but my top three are Smokin' Brothers, Bear Mountain, and BBQ Delight. I like to cook with apple, pecan, hickory and cherry for most products. I have a bag of MAK Hazelnut to try next time I do a brisket. I love the ability to quickly change pellets when using the MAK.

I've used traeger pellets are crap IMO..tons of ash and a cardboard smell when cooking..most of you here don't compete except for a few..competitors love consistency(backyard guys do to)and strive to have everything the same every time..BBQers delight are what we use and they are shipped free..I really don't think this deal can be beat.

Can't wait to try those pellets. Hopefully they make their own and don't buy and package them from the company who makes Traeger pellets. I really like Fruita's Peach wood chunks, very fresh wood. Thanks Meat Mn.

I use Louisiana grills brand up here in Canada . . . real wood, low ash, no flavors . . . but expensive . . $26 CDN for 40 lb bag . . . I am gonna look for a bbq delight supplier up here . . . they sound worth a try
