cannot get the hang of this type of grill. The recipe book of owners favorites is not
a big help. Recipes may call for 5 #'s when I only do 1 1/2 #'s. How do you figure times? I have tried country ribs, spareribs, brats
First of all, welcome from North Carolina. I have a MAK 2 Star and while I have the Pellet Boss to help me with my times/temperatures, I still use my Thermopen to check IT. This is one invaluable tool when you are cooking. If you don't have one, you should consider adding one to your cooking tools. I don't always cook the bigger pieces of meat, but whatever I cook, I use my Thermopen. I cook just about everything on my grill. The burgers I cook are put on my Grill Grates to get a few grill marks and cook them just the way I like my burgers. Most of the time I will run the grill temperature up when I use the Grill Grates. One more item you may want to add to your cooking tools. It takes a while to transition from a gas or charcoal grill to a pellet grill. Part of the fun is learning how to adapt your recipes to the pellet grill. Good luck. Use the Search feature to help you get started. Be sure to ask more questions. We love to help spread the pellet grill word.
