i have always used charcoal, as i like the the smokey bbq taste in my meats, mostly burgers and steaks. i am in wichita ks. and have looked at the gmg, traeger and memphis grills about 400 sq. in. I prefer the more traditional bbq look. im confused about the features, which ones best, will the meat all taste the same if the same heat and pellets are used, is one faster or easier to use than the other. please advise me what to look for so i can make an informed decision.
thanks for any opinions!!!!

I own a GMG Daniel Boone and am very happy with it. It has a remote control that I can use from within my house to check temp of meat and also temp of grill and if I am running low on pellets. Can adjust temp of grill also. Pellet grills don't have the real intense taste of wood flavor unless you cook at low temps (150 to 225) but mine holds the temp within 1 or 2 degrees of setting. When you purchase pellets look for the ones with no filler in them. Hope this helps.

Payne, I too went from a gas / charcoal grilling to using pellets. I think I did a fair amount of research before my purchase and I selected the MAK-2, after my purchase I wish I would of purchased it through Big Poppa, for the same price he throughs in a few extras.

What Pellet Grill

MAK or Memphis is where you should narrow you choices to. Both their build quality is way above the others. We own two MAK 2 Stars so my views are highly bias. We own MAK #68 which I have hauled around on the hitch of my van. Ran many times for over 15 hours straight. In temps as cold as 18º to as high as 110º. Used and abused it more then normal and expect it to work when I turn the switch on.Which it has with only needing a hot rod replaced. If I cleaned it more then once a week that may not have happened. Either way I would buy it from Big Poppa. He is a great businessman (and friend) and knows the value of customer service. Which is why his staff is so wonderful he hires good people.

After I had limited my search to MAK or Memphis, I finally pulled the trigger on the MAK based on comments from several individuals on this forum. I don't think you can go wrong either way, but definately order from BPS! You can't beat the customer service. Jessie is a huge help!
