Thanks Bob...I have a home network with wi-fi...just curious if I can use it at comps with no wi-fi available on site. Can I use my phone to connect to the internet page?
Cheers!

These are two different questions I think.
1) yes you can use your phone to control the grill as long as it is connected to a router.
2) you can't use the makgrillsmobile web app if your grill is somewhere with no wifi connection. Some phone plans have a wireless hot spot option, in this case you could connect the grill to your phone via wifi hot spot and then run the makgrillsmobile web app to control it.

For comps I would think the pellet boss remote would be the ticket. Usually your in the rig at night and just need to see temps or adjust and the remote would fit the bill and work where there is no wifi or cell service..

The WiFi remote access today's test was: Can I start the MAK at home and have the same access 10 miles away and change settings. Worked just as good as if I was sitting at home changed the temp on my iPad and iPhone with ease. I mentioned this because sometimes software works great on the "home" network but when doing remote access it slows to a crawl.

Cooking some fish

I had the WiFi module on the older style Pellet Boss with the rocker style on off switch. Switch the WiFi module to the grill with the new style Pellet Boss.

Here is a picture of the web page on the outside PC and the video shows changing temp on the iPad. When it was at temp on with the fish. I had the webpage open on multiple devices at the same time. the video also shows you need to hide the keyboard in order to hit the OK button. The enter key on the keyboard would work, but I was challenged enough holding the camera and operating the iPad at the same time.

The testers have found a few connection issues we are working on solving.
We should be finished in the next couple weeks for the world to try it out :)

I am one of the testers that is having nothing but success with the makgrillsmobile. I really do like this feature. I am running a Cisco e2500 router which has extended range. I am sure that helps. It is going to be good!

Greetings Folks!

I too am really looking forward to wifi access although I'm a bit concerned about having to access my grill via a site on the internet.

Question: If "MAK grill mobile dot com" is down or unreachable for any reason can I still access my grill in some form/fashion?

Thanks,
Rob.

You will always have full control at the grill with the Pellet Boss controller. Any temperature changes made on the pellet boss will break the wifi connection as well as power outages, flame out alarms etc. If the wifi disconnects for some reason other than an alarm the grill will switch to smoke mode until you change it physically. If you have email/text notification set up it will also send you a notice that your wifi is no longer connected.

Can the WiFi connection be re-established easily to continue the cook, or will the grill have to be shut down/reset to re-establish the connection?
