I just purchased this and was wondering if anyone has used it? Thinking of getting some New Yorks or ribeyes to try it out on. Any comments or suggestions using this rub.
BPDSSR is the bomb on steaks, tri-tips, briskets, etc. Highly recommended. I am currently out of it and use a combination of Little Louies with Pepper and a Garlic/Pepper blend, but I have some BPDSSR at the top of my shopping list for my next BPS order!
Thanks all. Thanks for the picks Tricky. My dad is in from out of town and I am going to cook some New Yorks and fillets. Going to give the rub a try. Just wanting to give my dad a good dinner. Don't get to see him that often.
I use it, and I like it. But I always add salt with it - it's a little bland without the salt for my taste. I actually use it on burgers as well as steak. Another steak rub I like is Grill Mates Montreal Steak from McCormick. It has a bit more kick than BP's secret. I use them both on beef (not at the same time) - depending on my mood 'o the day.
If it's beef, use it . Good on all kinds of stuff.... But I know a guy who has won 4 1st place calls, a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th - using it on Brisket. If it's winnin with the judges, it will make the home judges give you a thumbs up too
I used it last night on a tri tip. It was incredible. Cooked like on Big Popa show but i pulled at 130 cranked up the heat to hight and removed flame zone cove. Once grill hot put on searing grate. It was perfect.
I used it on some filets last night and the whole family really liked it. My previous "go to rub" was Montreal steak seasoning. Wife and kids gave me the go ahead to switch.
It is my go to steak and beef seasoning. Rave reviews from friends and family alike. All the BPS rubs are top notch. My kids now use the dessert gold and jallelujah on their eggs in the morning.
