i got myself the 5 x 8 a-maze-n to use in Hazel. also didn't like the torch. so i came up w/ my own idea.

rubbed 2 sticks together and made fire.

Hazel in the shade and smoking low and lean. under 100°. its howdy doody time.....

colded smoked for 2 1/2 hours and then fired up #336 to 275° and threw on the tri's.

once the tri's hit 120° i pulled them off into the warming draw and cranked up the old girl to 450°.

Great looking tri tip Sparky! I have always been satisfied with the amount of smoke I get on the MAK, but I may have to try one of those a-maze-n things. Probably the tube when BP gets them.

Great looking tri=tips Sparky, love the plated pic!
If a regular torch is too much air pressure for the pellets in the 5"X8" a mini torch works better. We use a mini torch on the 5"X8" and a regular torch for lighting the tube. Best price I have found on mini torches is from Harbor Freight tools.
