if you had a second chance would you buy the same smoker?

I'm way to new to Memphis Pro to offer anything other than new toy euphoria. Interesting thread, as I just went through deciding between a Memphis Pro and Mak 2 star.

Currently Mak has about 15 to 1 showing in this thread. Is that due to the Mak out selling Memphis or are a higher percentage of Mak owners active on the forum?

When I was looking, I got down to the Memphis Pro or MAK 2Star. I am convinced that I would be happy with either. Both have great customer support from what I can tell. They just have different features. There are times when I would love the higher temps of the Memphis. One of each wouldn't be bad!!! As someone said earlier, the majority are happy with their choice!

I got my .38 Special which is really a Traeger back around '06. I have really loved it and have made my Family and friends really happy these 6 years. I've had some issues but overall I'm a happy camper. I've only recently found out about some of these other brands. Since Traegers are now made in China I'd probably give BP a call and get something US made. I don't know about >$2000 for a smoker for my needs. I'd probably try not to go much over $1k. The main thing I'd change though is size. I regularly full my Traeger to capacity.

My last overnight smoke on my Memphis was two frozen butts that were 15.5 lbs total. In 14 hours of cook time I used 9lbs of pellets!

Again I would not change my mind ;)

Thanks! I'm really thinking of getting a new one. My Buddy has wanted me to sell him my Traeger for quite some time and I could really use the extra capacity. Mine has according to Traeger 418sq inches of space. I came here to research my options.

...If I wanted and could only have one grill on the porch I would probably buy the Memphis because of it's superior grilling....

Thanks Rick, That pretty much sums up my current situation, needed one unit for 50/50 smoking and grilling all year long in Chicago.

... One of each wouldn't be bad!!! ...

Already working that angle with the wife, it will take time but I'll get there.

You kill me every time you do that. I would welcome that efficiency.
