A Friend wanted me to smoke a turkey for him and his 93 year old granny so I said sure.
Researched on this form some turkey advice now its game on. 12 pounder bird.. rub on some olive oil then salt pepper and a little HogSmoker rub. In a pan 3 qts water I put chicken broth sliced medium onion , carrots , all spice , parsley flakes , garlic powder about tea spoon of each. Pre heat grill for 10 minutes. At 8:40 CST turkey is on the MAK at smoke setting.
At 9:15 am CST ma maws turkey breast and boneless ham is put on. ( breast looks like a alien head )
At 10:40 am CST bumped up setting to 265*
At the six hour mark 2:40 pm CST turkey button has popped insert probe reads 169*
turkey breast says 161* Ham already removed earlier. Mine cook time figured to be 30 minutes a pound as Carter Q stated.
Off the grill ready to eat!
Thanks BP , Carter Q for tips you posted.
Tomorrow we find out if they taste good.
(note) sure was Smokin easy Easy smokin on the MAK....
