A Friend wanted me to smoke a turkey for him and his 93 year old granny so I said sure.
Researched on this form some turkey advice now its game on. 12 pounder bird.. rub on some olive oil then salt pepper and a little HogSmoker rub. In a pan 3 qts water I put chicken broth sliced medium onion , carrots , all spice , parsley flakes , garlic powder about tea spoon of each. Pre heat grill for 10 minutes. At 8:40 CST turkey is on the MAK at smoke setting.

At the six hour mark 2:40 pm CST turkey button has popped insert probe reads 169*
turkey breast says 161* Ham already removed earlier. Mine cook time figured to be 30 minutes a pound as Carter Q stated.

If it tastes half as good as it looks you will be fine! The turkey has beautiful color! Nice job and Happy Thanksgiving!

Well my turkey and ham is all but gone. I guess I shouldn't be shocked at the MAK 1 star , but everyone who did partake in the ham and turkey without me asking said WOW this meat is really moist how did you cook it ? For the last 10-12 years I have smoked the turkey and ham on a brinkman style smoker and it always turned out good. But I really believe this year cook on the MAK 1 star is the best not only because of convenience not having to babysit the smoker , but because of the smoke flavor and moistness that was achieved.
So glad that I stumbled on BP's website 6 month ago and started reading and looking at Pellet smoking along with all the good folks in here and what they bring to the site.

My experience was the same this year as well. Even my sister, who is picky beyond belief, couldn't get enough turkey & stuffing which were both cooked on the MAK. She even made sure she got some to take home with her. :)

I bet everyone really enjoyed those turkeys. They look beautiful. Nice job!
