New Here..Question Please

Hi. I am looking at possibly getting a Mak 2 star. I have never owned a pellet smoker. I am wanting to know how this grill performs with the sear plate. I like to cook steaks, burgers, etc during the week and smoke on weekends. I've heard this grill is a great smoker but I need it to perform my regular "everyday" cooking needs as well. I would like to have just one grill and not have 2 or 3 sitting in my garage.

I'm new to this forum and any help, suggestions, pros and cons of this grill would be appreciated as $2300 is a big purchase for me and my family. I love the fact that this is an American grill and supports American jobs.

Thanks!!

Welcome wolverines, I have my heart set on a MAK 2 Star and know it will do what you're looking for. Saving up the beans now. Can't wait....

Yes either the MAK searing Grates or the Grill Grates makes searing a breeze

here is a tri tip without the searing or grill grates...pretty good I think

What Big Poppa said, the MAK is a great grill using just the standard grates with the flame zone. I get great results with the MAK sear grate. here are a few examples:

The MAK is a cooks tool and it definitely will handle any type of grilling or smoking that you want to do.

I have been using my MAK 2 star as my "one grill" for a while now.

No regrets, as previously stated it does not get to temp as fast as a gasser, but other than that, It has done everything I asked it to do and done it well.

I cook everything on my Mak 2 Star.. Steaks and burgers are fantastic with the flame zone and sear grates, low and slow smoking is amazing!! It is the best grill I have ever used! Don't make the mistake of buying a cheaper grill because you will only want to upgrade in a year or so like I did. And buy from BPS.. customer service level is the best anywhere!!!

I've cooked burgers and pork chops on my 1 star w/ grill grates. As said before it does take a little longer to get to temp;however, i have never had a tough/dry chop on a pellet grill! Always tender and moist.

I have a MAK 1 Star and am more than happy with how it handles the everyday cooking like you mentioned. And I know that if I'm happy with how well our 1 Star sears, then you'll be even happier with the 2 Star and it's flame zone!

I also use mine for hot-smoking bacon, sausage, hams, etc.

One more thing: Getting a MAK from BPS means getting a top notch product and you get DOUBLE top notch customer service; Once from MAK and again from BPS!
